Welcome to the Tanzania Forest Conservation Group's (TFCG) website.  Our mission is: To promote the conservation of the high biodiversity forests in Tanzania.  At this website you can learn about our programmes and various projects aimed at conserving the Eastern Arc and Coastal Forests of Tanzania.  Our five programmes are:

Since 2000 TFCG have been supporting a Community Forest Conservation Network.  The aim of the network is to link communities involved in participatory forest management.  The network now reaches communities in 12 regions and stimulates dialogue between communities and the government.

Over the last year TFCG have been working to establish The Amani Butterfly Project in the East Usambaras whereby communities farm butterflies for export to European and American butterfly houses. As part of our Livelihood Support Programme, the project aims to increase household incomes of project participants.
