Call for proposals from consultants to review policies, laws and regulations related to charcoal/the charcoal sector and to assess if and how these documents support a system that incentivizes communities to sustainably manage their forests

The Sustainable Charcoal Project is a six year partnership project between the Tanzania Forest Conservation Group (TFCG) and the Tanzania Community Forestry Network (MJUMITA) funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The project aims to improve climate change adaptation and mitigation; to enhance environmental sustainability, and to leverage returns on biomass resources; thereby delivering sustainable development to Tanzania and its people. In achieving its goal, the project has developed a model that incentivizes communities to sustainably manage their forests for charcoal production. In order to understand what is needed for the implementation of the proposed model, MJUMITA hereby invites qualified consultants to submit technical and financial proposals for the above mentioned assignment. The full Terms of Reference for the consultancy is available here.

Technical and financial proposals should be sent to: mjumitaorg@mjumita.org indicating in the subject line "Proposal for SCP Study to review policies, laws and regulations related to charcoal" and should be addressed to Executive Director, MJUMITA, P.O. Box 21522 Dar es Salaam. Proposals must include the CVs for each proposed consultant.

Qualified candidates will be short listed and notified for further steps. The closing time for receipt of application is 14th April 2014 at 1200 local time in Tanzania.
